Dr Tim Butson
Concussion and Rehabilitation Physician
Dr. Tim Butson is a Rehabilitation Physician with a sub-specialty fellowship in Adult Neurology (Concussion) from the University of Toronto.
In 2026 he completed his clinical and research fellowship at the Canadian Concussion Centre with a focus on the management of acute and persistent concussion presentations in both sport and non-sport related injuries.
Dr Butson is a Fellow of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (Royal Australasian College of Physicians) and graduated from medical school from James Cook University in 2013. His academic background also includes a Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Medicine from the University of Otago and a Master of Sports Medicine from the University of Melbourne.
He leads the concussion clinics at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital and Beach Brain. His current research centres on post-traumatic headaches, dizziness, cognitive changes of concussion as well as chronic traumatic encephalopathy.

They provide targeted rehabilitation programs to improve mobility, functional independence, and strength while promoting overall physical well-being and a safe return to activity.
Adjustment Counselling
Adjustment counselling by a social worker for individuals with concussion involves providing emotional support, education, and coping strategies to help patients manage the psychological and social challenges arising from their condition.
Dietician
A dietitian’s role in concussion management is to support recovery through nutrition, aiding brain repair, managing symptoms, and maintaining energy levels. They provide practical guidance to promote overall well-being and long-term health.
